XA Investments has been in a growth phase and recently added new employees and board members. An upcoming quarterly meeting meant that most of their employees were in one place for the day. They also noted that the growth of the firm’s use of LinkedIn and social media made it important to refresh their look.
It was a great opportunity to call us for headshots again.
Since I was going to be on site they opened up the opportunity to anyone at the company to get an updated headshot. We had around 20 sign up this time and it’s always a good idea to take advantage of having a photographer in house for the day.
I believe that hosting a new hire headshot day is simply a great way to build company culture and welcome new hires and interns. It also helps the firm present a unified “theme” and style to their headshots across platforms and channels used.
“This is the second time we’ve had Wes come in to do our headshots, and just like the first time—a few years prior—we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Wes is a true professional, and he puts his subjects at ease. We’ve had employees and clients notice the results too. We will call Wes again when it comes time for more corporate headshots and firm photography.”
We determined that the Chicago cityscape outside the 33rd floor windows was a great option for one background, matching what we had done with XAI at a previous session. A solid gray background was added as a clean 2nd option for each subject. I personally love the dark gray as it frames and accentuates the subject’s face nicely.
I arrived early to the building’s loading dock in order to set up lighting and backgrounds for the 2 stations. The first set up was in a corner meeting room with those incredible views of the Chicago Skyline. The second station was with our timeless smoke gray backdrop.
Time constraints due to the hours of XAI’s availability and the desire for 2 backgrounds per person meant that we sped up the process a little, giving each person about 6 minutes of quality time, down from 10 typically spent. Fortunately, I’m used to working under pressure. I knocked this one out on deadline.
